Summary : Sex. In a world overwhelmingly obsessed with it, why is the church so silent about it? While our secular culture twists, perverts, cheapens, and idolizes sex, there are gaping holes in the church's guidance of young people. The result is generations of sexually illiterate people drowning in the repercussions of overwhelming sin struggles. Enough is enough, says Mo Isom. With raw vulnerability and a bold spirit, she shares her own sexual testimony, opening up the conversation about misguided rule-following, virginity, temptation, porn, promiscuity, false sex-pectations, sex in marriage, and more and calling readers back to God's original design for sex--a way to worship and glorify him. This book is for the young person tangled up in an addiction to pornography, for the girlfriend feeling pressured to go further, for the "good girl" who followed the rules and saved herself for marriage and then was confused and disappointed, for the married couple who use sex as a bargaining tool, for every person who casually watches sex play out in TV and movies and wonders why they're dissatisfied with the real thing, and for every confused or hurting person in-between. Sex was God's idea. It's time we invited him back into the bedroom.

In Trainwreck, his weird and witty memoir of utter dysfunction, Nichols gives an irreverent look at how one "idoit" made good.

Summary : "The feeling I have in this very moment, after not seeing her for so long, will haunt me forever, reminding me why I left to begin with." For as long as I can remember, Easton Crews has been off-limits. As much as it kills me, that's never going to change. After his little disappearing act three years ago, then suddenly showing up out of nowhere, I shouldn't want anything to do with him. It doesn't matter how beautiful he still is. Or how close we once were. It shouldn't matter that my entire body lights on fire with need whenever he gets close. He chose the worst possible time to leave without so much as a goodbye. However, just like the first day he walked into our home, I'm drawn to him, needing him near me just as badly as I need air to breathe, and I can't stand it. I want to hate him. I know I should hate him. But hating him is the last thing he'll let me do. I push, he pulls harder, until I'm completely wrapped up in him, my mind lost in the one person who is forbidden--the one person I've always loved, even when he belonged to someone else. Easton was never meant to be mine. It took me years to come to terms with that and now that I finally have, he's here, right in front of me, more irresistible than ever. The part I fear the most about that--he's the one person capable of completely wrecking my world. "I'm not leaving until you take all of your hate out on me. Let me feel it. All of it. Every dirty look. Every nasty word. I will have it all before I leave. Stop hiding from me."

Instead of destroying the building from the outside, they destroy it from within. In the same way many great men and women have imploded, and others are well on their way. Author Eric Geiger offers a sobering reminder that many great and godly people have imploded, and none of us are above the risk. Looking at the story of David’s infamous implosion, readers will learn how to ruin our lives (so we won't), and also how to find hope if we do--as all of us need His grace.

Summary : Life can sometimes as the old saying goes, "throw you a stumbling block in the road". My plans were when I get out of High School were pointing to the ministry. I was helping dad on the farm but it was not a big enough farm to make a good living. But the Vietnam War was escalating and many of my classmates were being drafted. Well I had two things going for me that might keep me out of the service. One was I was farming with an aging Father who had turned 60. And the other thing was that I was studying for the ministry. But I was not enrolled in Bible College yet nor could I afford to go because of the cost and because I would have to leave the farm. I had already been preaching since I was 12 years old and had conducted a few Revivals and was serving as youth leader of our church. I had conducted a Vacation Bible School at our church and helped our church to grow. I preached for the elderly Pastor several times. I had completed some correspondence courses with Berean Bible collage but if I did complete all the courses I would still have to be in internship program under another preacher and church In the Assemblies of God. That would have taken a few years to complete. Our church in Mt. Sterling Illinois was a small Assemblies of God that had an old 80 year old pastor who was not able to help me much because of his age and health. But I used to love to hear him preach. He passed away when I was in Vietnam. Our whole County of Brown County was about 5,000 people. The County seat was Mt. Sterling and was about 3,000. The rest mostly farming community . A Marine recruiter from Quincy, Illinois came out to the farm in Versailles Illinois in the fall of 1965. I had graduated from Brown County High School in Mt. Sterling Illinois in May. I was working during the day at the Brick yard in Mt. Sterling and helping dad when I got off work. We were on the back of dads 80 acres where my 40 acres joined his. It was mostly timber and pasture. Dad had 5 acres of level ground back there. We were shucking corn by hand and throwing it into the wagon. I saw this Marine walking up to the corn field in his dress blues with a white rim hat. I noticed his spit shinned shoes were dusty. He asked if I was Ronnie Waters. I said yes but your shoes are getting dusty. He said no problem and quickly took out his handkerchief and whipped them off. He was a definite clog in the road that began to wreck my life because of where I was destined to be sent. Later in Vietnam alcohol, depression, bad moral , continued to wreck my life. and the people back home didn't help. You will read about my personal experience with PTSD and my journey to recovery. My faith in God and deliverance from alcohol. May God Bless you and keep you and cause his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you And the Lord lift up His countenance upon thee and give thee peace. Numbers 6:24-26.

Summary : Launched in 1914, two years after the ill-fated voyage of her sister ship, RMS Titanic, the Britannic was intended to be superior to her tragic twin in every way. But war intervened and in 1915 she was requisitioned as a hospital ship. Just one year later, while on her way to collect troops wounded in the Balkans campaign, she fell victim to a mine laid by a German U-boat and tragically sank in the middle of the Aegean Sea. There her wreck lay, at a depth of 400 feet, until it was discovered 59 years later by legendary explorer Jacques Cousteau. In 1996 the wreck was bought by the author of this book, Simon Mills. Exploring the Britannic tells the complete story of this enigmatic ship: her construction, launch and life, her fateful last voyage, and the historical findings resulting from the exploration of the well-preserved wreck over a period of 40 years. With remarkable sonar scans and many never before seen photographs of the wreck, plus the original Harland & Wolff ship plans, not previously published in their entirety, Exploring the Britannic finally details how the mysteries surrounding the 100-year-old enigma were laid to rest, and what the future might also hold for her.

Summary : From the New York Times bestselling author and former beauty editor Cat Marnell, a “vivid, maddening, heartbreaking, very funny, chaotic” (The New York Times) memoir of prescription drug addiction and self-sabotage, set in the glamorous world of fashion magazines and downtown nightclubs. At twenty-six, Cat Marnell was an associate beauty editor at Lucky, one of the top fashion magazines in America—and that’s all most people knew about her. But she hid a secret life. She was a prescription drug addict. She was also a “doctor shopper” who manipulated Upper East Side psychiatrists for pills, pills, and more pills; a lonely bulimic who spent hundreds of dollars a week on binge foods; a promiscuous party girl who danced barefoot on banquets; a weepy and hallucination-prone insomniac who would take anything—anything—to sleep. This is a tale of self-loathing, self-sabotage, and yes, self-tanner. It begins at a posh New England prep school—and with a prescription for the Attention Deficit Disorder medication Ritalin. It continues to New York, where we follow Marnell’s amphetamine-fueled rise from intern to editor through the beauty departments of NYLON, Teen Vogue, Glamour, and Lucky. We see her fight between ambition and addiction and how, inevitably, her disease threatens everything she worked so hard to achieve. From the Condé Nast building to seedy nightclubs, from doctors’ offices and mental hospitals, Marnell “treads a knife edge between glamorizing her own despair and rendering it with savage honesty.…with the skill of a pulp novelist” (The New York Times Book Review) what it is like to live in the wild, chaotic, often sinister world of a young female addict who can’t say no. Combining “all the intoxicating intrigue of a thriller and yet all the sobering pathos of a gifted writer’s true-life journey to recover her former health, happiness, ambitions, and identity” (Harper’s Bazaar), How to Murder Your Life is mesmerizing, revelatory, and necessary.

At university, he investigates the emerging gay scene in 1970s Vancouver; befriends Lara, a hapless French student with a huge appetite and a passion for singing; encounters Mrs. McBride, his landlady who harbours an inspirational secret and unexpectedly collides with Pete, an achingly handsome agent who becomes an infrequent secret lover. By chance, he runs into Robby, a Master's student and former schoolmate with a poignant past. Throughout the story, water forms an important character.
